Beautiful Golden Bay receives amazing gift
26 March, 2022

Martyn and Susan Fisher love Golden Bay. They have enjoyed residing in Collingwood since 2007, and five years ago they were proud to make it their permanent home.

Recently Martyn and Susan made a really generous gift to the Foundation’s Golden Bay Fund, a fund that had been seeded by them a few years back.

Martyn said that he and Susan really wanted to help make a positive impact now in the community that they enjoy so much.

“We originally made provision in our Wills for bequests to provide a lasting legacy to deserving causes in Golden Bay. We have also chosen to make a living gift now to enable Top of the South to establish the Golden Bay Fund. We’d love to see our gifts making a difference in the local community during our lifetimes.”

Martyn said that he and Susan are thrilled to gift to the Foundation and look forward to seeing the fund create a positive impact.

“We enjoy a really strong sense of local community. We have also come to realise that in order for Golden Bay to remain strong and viable, it’s important that we strengthen our community organisations and support projects that contribute to building and strengthening our region.

“This new fund will hopefully assist this happening.” Martyn said.

Susan notes that they are keen to see the fund support various areas of the Golden Bay community.

“We’d love to see the fund support projects that contribute positively to areas such as education, health, arts & culture, community services, and sports, and when necessary provide emergency support to those in need.

Susan added that it’s been great to feel the new and fresh energy present within the local Community Foundation.

“We sense a real commitment from Top of the South to grow this fund and we’d love to think there are other Golden Bay residents who might like to make gifts which would grow the fund, and help create positive impact in our great part of the world.”

Foundation Executive Officer Gavin Larsen said that meeting with Martyn and Susan and hearing their positiveness about Golden Bay was inspiring.

“It’s heart-warming to work with donors like the Fishers and we thank them sincerely for their incredibly generous gifts. It’s going to be awesome dealing with other Golden Bay residents and many local organisations and the hope is that this Golden Bay Fund makes a really positive difference to the region in due course.”
